Jacks Split Double Header vs New Market

Grant Vurpillat (NJIT) pitched six scoreless innings as the Jacks shut out the visiting New Market Rebels 8-0 in Sunday’s first game of a seven inning double header. In game two it was Wilhelm Allen of New Market pitching the shutout, as the Rebels shut out the Jacks offense, 7-0.

Game one: Joe Fortin (Rhode Island) had two hits and an RBI, while Brayden Combs (Rice University) finished with two RBI’s off of a single in the fifth inning. Caufield (UNC), Cocciadiferro (NJIT), and Boselli (George Washington) also finished the game with an RBI. Austin Morgan (USC Upstate) closed out the seventh inning with another shutout inning, while giving up just one hit.

Game two: Two Jacks, Johnny Barditch (Manhattan) and Domenic Boselli (George Washington), had multiple hits in game two of the double header. Jacks starting pitcher Cody Woodring (FGCU) was tagged with the loss. Woodring went five innings on the mound, giving up four hits and two runs.

With the split double header, the Jack’s remain one game above .500 with a 12-11 record. The Jacks are next in action on Monday, July 1 away at Front Royal.
